I haven't been here in 4 years because I was living out of town. I enjoyed this place before I left, but now that I'm back, I don't plan on going here for another 4 years, if ever again. When I called to make reservations, I was asked if I would like to sit upstairs or downstairs, I chose upstairs but was told I couldn't sit upstairs when I showed up, not a big deal, but what was the point of asking? When we sat, there was a dirty table across from us that wasn't cleared until 5 minutes before we left and the hostess even tried sitting someone there and they had to inform her it was dirty, so she put them somewhere else and she still didn't clear it or have it cleared. We had terrible service the whole night, having to ask multiple times for things and ask for water refills. The confusing part was that we came for an early dinner at 5:30 and it was very slow. I could understand if it was really busy. Our food was also terrible, my wife had the chicken and spinach sauté and it was super bitter and terrible and I had the chicken cannelloni and my noodles were very over cooked. The building and decorations are due for a major renovation. It's unfortunate because my wife and I used to enjoy this place a lot, but I wouldn't recommend anyone coming here anytime soon! Their Chicken Parmesan is the best in town. They have a white pizza that is scrumptious. I wouldn't order the Alfredo personally. The atmosphere is quaint which I prefer over something like the Banks. Some waiters aren't good but hey, this is FAIRBANKS and it isn't know for good service. Wasn't even given the opportunity to sit down. I walked through the front door with my girlfriend, and right after we spoke the lady working the front quickly cut us off and told us to come back another time. The restaurant was almost empty with only 2 or 3 tables filled. The couple before us was seated without incident. We returned about half an hour later and before even entering the door the same lady yelled, "no, I'm not answering you!" When we spoke to a manager they told us that she was stressed and that she's from New York, but that doesn't excuse her from being rude and embarrassing us for no good reason. I won't be returning and I'd advise anyone who's looking for decent service staff to seek elsewhere. Wonderful Italian restaurant great food with a little of everything lasagna spaghetti calzones great salads. All served by a the owners/family. Decor is pretty dated so imagine yourself in a terrific place in Little Italy, Manhattan. I come only for a few favorites. I love the gnocci al a vodka and in the fall there is a pumpkin pasta dish I love! Pizzas though are just okay, a little dry. Great wine list and fresh bread always
