Secretary doesn't open the door at 8 am she waits as much as 10 after leaving the kids outside waiting in the cold. Ridiculous! I like the communication and genuine care for the student and families. My amazing, smart, and beautiful 8 year old niece has wanted to play guitar since she was at least 4 years old, which I have tried to help cultivate in her since then... This year, she had the opportunity to try and play guitar in band class and was unfortunately told by her music teacher (at Nordale Elementary): "Well, anyone can pick up a guitar and strum it." Now mind you, I am certain that this was not the only thing discussed between this music 'teacher' and my niece, but it's what stuck out in her young and fragile mind. For someone who is supposed to be passionate about and work hard to inspire our youth to pursue their dreams and talents in life, I find that be a a hugely untactful and heartbreaking approach to doing so. It could be so simple as: "You are VERY passionate about the guitar young lady, but I think that you might need some practice at home before you play in school band. Next year might be better for you to get started in school band." Luckily she will be attending a different school this semester, so no more harm can be done. My kiddos are loving their new school Nordale and so are mommy and daddy! The atmosphere, staff and students are much more excepting and welcoming then UPark!
