John was a lovely host. He was quite accommodating for my late arrival, made a tasty breakfast in the morning, called my shuttle to confirm my trip without me even asking him to and he was a pleasure to talk with. Rooms were cheap and good. There are shared bathrooms which was not a problem for me as I was the only guest. John is a wonderful host for our honeymoon to fairbanks. Enjoyed the breakfast and historical anecdotes with him. Met great people also staying there. Would return! was good place to stay until the last 2 days was awkward. my mom and I decided to eat out one day so we slept in until after 930am. my mom went down to just get coffee as i dressed for the day, john made sarcastic jokes to me about being young and shouldnt be sleeping in. I brushed that off my shoulder. But little later he made more sarcastic comments to us as he prepared breakfast for after 930am. I am only assuming here but i feel he didnt want to cook for us after 930am so he said awkward comments to us and made us feel uncomfortable. He later tranfered us to another room which was already planned. my mom and i didnt want to have breakfast because he made us feel uncomfortable. well it was 920am and the maid knocked on our door and asked if we wanted breakfast. we told her no and will be eating out. then at 10am again the maid came and asked if we want breakfast bc john was asking ..we said no. then said we had to be out before 11am because ppl were checking in. so my mom and immediatly packed ..we felt rushed out our room and felt uncomfortable. i dont understand why he treated us that way. our theory is that we had breakfast 15min late the day before and maybe he was upset with us so he poked at us. and then we didnt have breafast our last day so he just wanted us out. honestly i dont want to rushed out of bed and my room our someone asking if we want breakfast while i slept. its inappropriate. i wouldnt stay there again. i wouldnt mind paying another 20 or 30 now just to avoid that awkwardness with John. A B&B as it should be. John was a great host, not only providing great breakfast but also recommending what to do in and around Fairbanks. Staying at Ah Rose Marie B&B was the highlight of my trip to Fairbanks. John is so genuinely friendly with each guest that it feels like visiting an uncle's place and staying in one of his spare rooms. All the important things were top notch like cleanliness, a huge delicious breakfast and lots of useful travel tips. If I'm ever in Fairbanks again I will definitely return to Ah Rose Marie.
