Great service and location. There are good trails around to spend some quiet moment. Perfect place to watch northern lights. They even provide rocking chairs at the carpark area for the house guests to stare the lights in comfort. And if you feel too chilling in the middle of the night, they provide thick blankets to keep us warm too. They don't only know how to warm our body but our heart too. Extremely dated, air conditioning does not work well, no USB charging outlets. But this review is more about the way Princess has treated our reservation. We booked directly with the lodge (which is owned by Princess Cruise Lines ) we collected hotel and asked about transfers and we're told they had a shuttle and we could ride it to the lodge. The shuttle from the airport was grudgingly allowed. We only booked one night so we inquired about the rail shuttle. At first we were added then they said because we didn't book our transfers with them we could not ride. We offered to pay they said no. The transfers are only offered to cruise ship customers. Seems cheap and unprofessional not to take care of all your guests. I will not be booking any future cruises with Princess due to the cheap way I feel we have been tested. We booked directly with the lodge not a third party. A Princess Cruise Line hotel for the cruise line's Alaska package. Everyone seems to be a cruise-land package customer. The rooms are large, well appointed and comfortable. Two restaurants are operating, they share some common menu items. Breakfast is expensive in the large dining room, they aggressively push the buffet breakfast but you can or from the menu. This is such a lovely place nice big rooms and so clean all the staff from the cleaners to reception were fantastic. Would definitely recommend this place. We stayed here for two nights earlier this week to start the land portion of our Princess cruise tour. The property is a dated hotel, not a lodge, and the overall setting was akin to a very crowded senior center. We were the only party who had to wait for our room upon arrival and sat in the lobby for an hour. There is a $5 charge for the shuttle to Downtown Fairbanks, the food choices are limited and overpriced, and the staff seemed disorganized. Also, there wasn't any entertainment in or around the hotel. This is our first experience with Princess and we chose them for our Alaskan cruise because of their reputation. We're hoping the cruise portion can make up for the underwhelming and disappointing experience at Fairbanks Riverside Lodge. For the price of this trip, you should not have to pay $3 for toast!
