The train station is a nice place to visit even if you aren't riding a train. There is a model train setup and a nice gift shop. Love taking the train in Alaska. It's a long ride from Fairbanks to Anchorage, but absolutely beautiful in summer and winter. In the winter, I definitely recommend visiting this depot. It is historical and provides daily trips to Fairbanks. Yes, you could fl there, but the train ride was amazing for seeming as much of Alaska as possible. We were fortunate to have a great and unobstructed view of Mt. McKinley and lots of wildlife. Food and drinks on the train were great too. Clean, bright, comfortable rail terminal for the best ride in the North America -- the Alaska Railroad. Terminal features a great model railroad, very clean rest rooms, and comfortable seating while waiting for the train to arrive. Good location
