This is a fun, family tourist trap. I highly recommend it. The train ride is fun and educational. Panning for gold was fun especially since you know you have some in your bag. You never know how much is put back into the water as you pan, but our family found between $15 and $32 worth of gold in our pans. It was fun having the gold made into a necklace and a tie tack. One son decided just to bring his gold home in the little film size canister. This was a great experience, we had a tour that combined the Gold Dredge 8 and the Riverboat and we liked both activities. Both were very educational and well planned tours. Thanks to the wonderful group of hard working folks that gave the tour. It was a fun way to spend our time in Fairbanks and recommend to anyone who wants pan for gold, learn about the culture of Alaska. Howdy Ya'll from Texas! Fun tour of an old gold mining operation.
