This was a great river boat trip. It was beautifully arranged. Started with a float plane taking off bc and landing. There was a stop by the husky dog training place. This was interesting and informative. The highlight of the trip was the stopping by the recreated Indian village. There were reindeer. At various other places they had demonstrations about Indian dress, trappers cabins, and a chance to meet the sled dogs. A great trip. A fun, educational trip up the river. You watch a seaplane takeoff, see some sled dogs pull a four-wheeler, learn about some of the Native Americans and visit the village, just a fun trip. The boys loved the free blueberry donuts and trying the smoked salmon on crackers on the way back to shore. I suggest you look into the Alaska TourSaver guide as you can get a buy one get one free ticket which also has a buy-one-get-one-free for the gold dredge 8 tour. There is a gift shop, dinning hall and a "40 below" room where you can experience what winters in the area feel like (at 40° below zero) to explore before and/or after the boat ride. The boat ride down the river is narrated. They provide complementary donuts going out. You get to see a plane land and take off on the river, check out a sled dog kennel and a native village (that on the way back you stop at and explore for awhile). On the way back they offer samples of their smoked salmon. A must when visiting Fairbanks! One of the most memorable excursions we did in alaska. Bucket list for sure! Mark from NZ.
