I never had a problem and on my first night there i got eaten up by bed bugs.manager says he just started there and has them too.he says they spray once a month.( most shelters spray once a week and have nee clients shower and put CLOTHES in freezer or dryer.i havent had a problem with bugs in 3 years.now my first night got em here.now soap in restrooms and blood on counter infront of manager. Manager was extremely nice though even though. He didnt have any acces to spray.i have to gst some.New to Fairbanks. Please do not fund/donate to this predatory facility. They cite being privately funded and so they're justified in not allowing an 8 month pregnant woman and her service animal to have access to the food and drink that they pay for themselves, during the day. And as retaliation for complaining properly and in writing to the directors, resulted in both the 8 month pregnant woman and her service animal being kicked out on to the streets with no place to go. They actually put my stuff outside of the building while I waited for police to show and take a report. Although I remained calm the entire time, they refused to let me pack my own belongings and I found many items that were left once I did a final look with police. The residents that live here longterm actually run this shelter like unpaid staff members. Not wearing uniform or any badge it's impossible to know who you are actually taking direction from. It's like they are all playing pretend because professionalism is clearly lacking. Just because you are in a shelter doesn't mean that you are there for anyone to victimize. Not everyone is taking drugs or making poor choices and should not be subjected to such treatment. Without the homeless that come there for a roof over there heads, your facility could not exist or pay you to do your job. Try respecting people. It feels strange to sue a homeless shelter but that's exactly what is happening. You will not get away with doing this to others. Going through the genesis program i love that im learning its ok to be me God is here staff is amazing and residents are respectful and thankful Community based shelter for women and men for people in need of immediate shelter. Staff is great and willing to assist in individuals needing to build a plan for permanent housing and work assistance. they give you a place to get out of the weather
